Currently, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe is by far my favorite luxury coupe design. To me, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupe takes all the design details that I love about the S-Class Coupe and packages them in a smaller body. Of course, that means I’m a big fan of the C-Class Coupe as well but to me, the E-Class Coupe perfectly balances out both models as it sits right in the middle. . While it may not seem like it to the naked eye, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe has grown 4.4-inches in its wheelbase with an overall length of 190.6-inches. It definitely gives it a very bold and elegant stance. My favorite design feature is the pillarless hardtop that shows the E-Class Coupes beautiful sloping roofline without any framework. . Now, keep in mind that the Mercedes-AMG E53 I tested here starts at $73,700 but things can get very expensive as you start tacking on options. Here is what I would end up paying based on exterior upgrades if I optioned out an E53 the way I wanted. . - designo Diamond White metallic: $1,515. - 20-inch AMG twin 5-spoke w/black accents: $750. - Exterior Lighting Package: $800. - AMG Night Package: $650. - AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package: $1,750. . That brings my total price tag to $79,165 without even adding any interior or tech packages or options! While Audi and BMW reserve their high-end cabins for the A8 and 7-Series, Mercedes-Benz has managed to revamp its lineup with exceptional interiors across the board. I mean take a look at the new entry-level A-Class, even that has an interior that is unremarkably stylish and luxurious. Now, I know that Audi and BMW are starting to trickle down fancy cabins across their lineup so in a few years the gap between them and Mercedes-Benz will shrink. . That being said, all this style, luxury, and tech does come at a price. When building out a new 2019 E53 Coupe, you can easily hit north of $93,000 just based on interior upgrades alone when adding the most expensive options. A designo Nappa leather upholstery and AMG Carbon Fiber trim will add a total of $7,050 to the price. Not to mention, if you’re a sound aficionado, the optional Burmester sound system will cost you an extra $4,550. Now, if I remain conservative and only add upgrades that I really want and desire, I’d still be at $88,550 - mainly because I love a good sound system. . Overall, I still consider Mercedes-Benz interiors to be superior to their competition, but MB-Tex “leatherlike” upholstery as standard on a $73,700 AMG car should not be a thing. Nappa leather should simply be the standard here. Nonetheless, my favorite option by far has to be the Warmth & Comfort Package which adds heated seats and get this... heated front door and center console armrests!
