2017 Vacheron Sancerre Sancerre is an AOC in the Loire valley of France. It is most famous for it's Sauvignon blanc. Did you know that sauvignon blanc is the only white wine with pyrazines in the aroma? Pryazine can smell of grass, green pepper, or green herbs. Interestingly in this wine I did not get much pyrazine aromas. Instead I got some quince aromas on the nose. This led to a palate of Grapefruit and lemon - very high acid. Good minerality that has a med finish. Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé owns 7.2 hectares, which is about 70% of the entire grand cru of Musigny. Additionally this domaine is also majority owner of the grand cru Bonnes -Mares with 2.6 hectares. Beginning in the 15th century, ownership of this Domaine has passed through 20 generations. In 1925 it was passed to Comte Georges de Vogüé and now his granddaughters Claire de Causans and Marie de Landoucette are the proprietors. Etienne de Montille, of the Domaine de Montille in Volnay, was appointed as manager of the Chateau de Puligny-Montrachet in 2002 and began a transformation at this estate. Organic farming began in 2002, and since 2005 they have been working using biodynamic farming. This 2016 Chassagne-Montrachet - had an earthy and almost savory aroma. Crushed stones and a salinity on the nose with apple, pear, and lemon. Body was Med +, Acidity Med +, and a Med + finish. 1990 Château Palmer, one of the under-recognized vintages from this great estate. It’s overshadowed by the bigger, brawny 1989, but this is still a superb wine. In a perfect spot right now, this still has a long way to go

The 2018 Bordeaux vintage came with both heartbreak and happiness, reports European Editor Roger Voss from this year's #EnPrimeur barrel tasting. Mildew in the spring, followed by drought from mid-July to harvest caused a 30% decrease in crop from the 2017 vintage. The silver lining? The final wines were still exceptional with concentrated flavors, integrated tannins, acidity and freshness. En Primeur week couldn’t have a better start for me yesterday. A whole day at Cos d’Estournel learning, visiting, eating French delicatessen and tasting their wine gems. I was so impressed by the 2018 vintage which will be soon released on the market. It’s exceptional, the kind of exceptional that can blow your mind even when the wine is not ready yet... complex, bright, perfumed wines with a huge aging potential. Avez-vous déjà goûté à un rosé élevé en barrique? Hey guys, have you ever tasted a rosé wine aged in oak barrels? Domaine du Hautmonlong is a family winery located in the Southwest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The cuvée Caprices d’une nuit (literally whims of a night) is a blend of 60 % merlot, 30% cabernet sauvignon and 30% cabernet franc, produced on the Bergerac appellation. Grapes were crushed, no maceration on the skins. Aged in oak barrels for 4 to 6 months. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As you can imagine, this is a very atypical rosé due to the barrel aging and to be quite frank I didn’t know what to expect before tasting it. What I like in a rosé is the freshness, so I was scared the barrel aging would result in a oaky and heavy rosé but it was not the case at all! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Beautiful nose of red fruits and orange peels, with a hint of vanilla. Very subtle and elegant rosé with a lot of freshness and roundness! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Un rosé de gastronomie A success!
