I just found this photo in my archive for our trip to Iceland. I never posted it and I’m not quite sure why. Maybe it’s because it would have been better if I was in the photo for perspective. Truth be told I’m lucky I got any photo at all. The amount of water that sprays back into that cave is unbelievable. You have to be quick, set it up and press the button before your lens gets totally covered in water spots. Or maybe the real reason I never posted it was because at the time I was too angry about the other shot that was much better, but came out blurry... time has helped with that . . #iceland #icelandtravel #waterfall

One of our favorite parts of Iceland actually wasn’t on the Ring Road at all. It was the Snaefellsnes Peninsula! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Located on the western part of the island just a few hours north of Reykjavik, Snaefellsnes felt like the greatest hits of Iceland, condensed into a manageable 55 mile long peninsula. It has glaciers, lava fields, fishing villages, sea cliffs, black and gold colored beaches, and tons of waterfalls. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This was actually one of our favorite waterfalls of the whole trip. Kirkjufellsfoss with Mt Kirkjufell in the background. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you only have a little time in Iceland, we say skip the far more heavily trafficked southern coast or Golden Circle and head up to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.
