In my opinion, I think the Jaguar I-Pace is definitely more stylish than the Audi e-tron, Mercedes-Benz EQC, and the Tesla Model X. Jaguar Director of Design, Ian Callum, said that the I-Pace’s “electric powertrain offered us unprecedented design freedom.” To optimize the range of the I-Pace, designers had to work hard to reduce drag. The design elements that help improve aerodynamics and achieve a drag coefficient of just 0.29Cd include a low hood, sweeping roofline, and squared-off rear. Airflow and battery cooling are assisted by slots in the grille which open and close when needed and by redirecting air through the hood scoop. If you look closely, you’ll notice the top part of the grille rolls right up into the hood scoop. . Now, the Tesla Model X is a rival to the Jaguar I-Pace for obvious reasons - however, the I-Pace is definitely smaller than the Model X. The I-Pace sits on a wheelbase that measures 117.7-inches with an overall length of 184.3-inches. The Model X actually sits on a shorter wheelbase at 116.7-inches but the length comes in at 198.3 inches - a full 14-inches longer than the I-Pace. Standard ground clearance for the I-Pace comes in at 5.6-inches and 7.8-inches when the suspension is raised. The Model X has 5.4-inches at a low setting and 8.2-inches when raised. . For 2018 Jaguar decided to expand its range of F-Types to 24 distinct variants from 4-cyl turbos to supercharged V8s in both coupe or convertible configurations. The 400 Sport however, is the newest and most powerful in the V6 lineup coming in at 400hp when compared to the 340hp, 360hp and 380hp S V6 variants. The car is not available in their epic Manual transmission but the ZF automatic is tuned beautifully to deliver a satisfying gear change that is accompanied by a 1970s style screaming exhaust note and supercharge whine under load then a symphony of crackles and pops off throttle. The car's active exhaust does a great job at providing enough volume of sound to penetrate the cockpit of the car but does not compare to the experience of driving the convertible. While driving through town you will find yourself searching for things to reverberate the V6 soundtrack back to your eardrums, whether that be a hedge, wall or at best an underpass. The car's defining feature may be its 400hp, 339lb ft engine to most but the subtle styling cue's of the 400 Sport add so much to the overall experience of the vehicle. The car wears larger rocker panels and a deeper front splitter, darkened rear diffuser, 20 inch wheels, larger rotors, satin black finished calipers with a yellow accented 400 Sport logo, sports seats and yellow contrast stitching. Additionally it comes standard with adaptive dynamics allowing you to tune the steering, transmission, suspension and engine to your liking. Meaning you can tune it to have an aggressive throttle response, steering and transmission while maintaining a supple ride. The car is quick and aggressive on turn in but the car is still quite heavy and its P245 section front tires will push at its grip limit, but throw in a little throttle and the car is quick to rotate and stay flat through the corners and maintain excellent body control over bumps. Overall the experience with an F-Type isn't just about the 0-60 times, grip levels, etc. Its about that feeling you get after you've spent all morning hooning about, turn around and enjoy those beautiful aluminum lines.
