Understanding eye shapes is so important to determine the best lash mapping styles for your client. I always tell my lash baes to enjoy the journey in finding the ‘perfect shape’ that’s best suits them. It will almost take some time and a lot of trial & error to figure it out, but the most important thing to do in this process is make sure there’s open communication between you & your client.⁣ ⁣ Ask your client what they (issa bonus if they can show you inspo pics) and educate them on what you’re able to do. The more they understand as to why we can or can’t achieve certain looks/lengths, then the more they’ll trust you as you help them along this journey to custom that perfect set for them.⁣ ⁣ I’ve had new lash baes come to me asking for a cat-eye, C-curl (natural curl), and 15-16s long lengths for their first set ever. Then after experimenting fill after fill, changing things here and there, the best set that she actually loooves and suits her is an open-eye, D-curl (dramatic lift) in the center & Cs in the inner/outer corners, and 14s being the longest in the center.⁣ ⁣ See how far off that was from her initial set? Lol so to my fellow artists, understand eye shapes & mapping so you can manage expectations w/ your client. And clients, trust the process. A little Lash Brushing clip to get you through your week. This set was 10mm-17mm in 0.03mm Silk lashes from @lashboxla using a Kitten-Eye lash mapping. Notice how proportionate these lashes look to her eye shape and size. Sometimes artist just think of the numbers and not the proportion that a lash length will have to an eye size. Every one of our clients have different sized eyes and different shapes so it’s vital that we alter our lash maps to match and accommodate. I never realized how hard it is to make these lash videos. I think I may need an assistant to record while I brush? Anyways! Here is a beautiful and perfectly isolated fill. My client loves a full lash but not heavy. So To get this effect, I use 0.03mm lashes and make the fans around 6-8D. This isn’t the easiest thing because if you have played with 0.03mm lashes, the more you grab, the better they fan. But whatever my girls want, they get. I spoil them. You’re never too good to practice. Here is a sponge that I lashed while I had a no show. Yes, a no show. Let’s go off in that direction for a little while. A lot of you, artists, might think that you’re the only ones dealing with flakey clients, but trust me, you’re not alone. Even super booked artists like myself deal with it here and there. And after she didn’t show up, I tried to move someone up to take her spot or call in one of my girls on my waiting list, and nothing, no one could move earlier or make it in to the salon in time. So I was stuck with a 2 hour gap and I decided to do this. Practice. (I also was able to order inventory) but the main thing that I’m trying to get to is that when all things go south, make the best of it and make a bomb IG post that will get you 10 more good solid clients! On this sponge I did all mega volume fans using Supreme Silk lashes from @lashboxla in 0.03mm C Curl. The outer row is 14mm and the inner row is 13mm. Working with a sponge to make this is different than lashing natural lashes. The fans aren’t able to wrap anything so they tend to look funnier than how they would look like on a real lash set. You also have to hold the fan in place for 1-2 seconds longer than you normally would because it’ll flop over if you don’t. You also want you’re glue to be older and tackier when doing these sponges. So I literally use the glue dot until it’s totally gone, where as in a real set, I would change the glue once it started becoming thick.
