(NOT FOR THE SQUEEMISH) Phuket vegetarian festival, 2018. Our day started at 6am at bangneaw shrine, with coffee and a meeting point. We took a scooter ride(@wontonanimalquan in the middle, me on the back )with our friend Joakim to another temple where piercing was happening for the day. We waited for a bit, then it all started around 7am. Taoist spirit mediums started coming out of the temple in trance/spirit of the God took over and they were ready. Some amazing and intense moments when they were getting pierced. These are some of the photos I took this morning. What a privilege and honor it was to witness these moments. Phuket Vegetarian Festival. To było jedno z najdziwniejszych wydarzeń w jakich uczestniczyliśmy ever. Tradycją podczas tego święta jest m.in. to, co widzicie na obrazku. Wybrane osoby będące "Ma Song", czyli czujące w sobie obecność nieprzychylnego ducha, biorą udział w oczyszczających rytuałach, a jedną z ich części jest przekłuwanie ciała. W dość ekstremalnej formie. Kilka dni temu wstaliśmy przed świtem i pojechaliśmy do świątyni parę kilometrów od nas, gdzie chyba cała wieś zebrała się by obserwować poranne obrządki. Nie rozumieliśmy wiele z tego, co się działo - modlitwy, tańce i "opętani" wybrańcy będący jakby w szaleńczym transie. Dlaczego to robią? Podobno ten drastyczny piercing pochłania złe energie, wyzwala od nieprzyjaznych duchów i zapewnia ochronę na nadchodzący rok. Tradycyjnie twarze przebijano szpikulcem lub małymi nożami, ale wyobraźnia uczestników poszła dalej i dzisiaj przypomina to naprawdę krwawą masakrę. Kto wpadł na pomysł wsadzania sobie w policzki rewolwerów?! Obserwowaliśmy przekłuwanie (a raczej rozrywanie) na żywo, bo wręcz zapraszano nas do obfotografowania tego, co tam się działo. Dla chłopaków będących Ma Song jest to pewnie powód do dumy i chwilowa sława. O dziwo zachowane były jakieś pozory higieny - środki do dezynfekcji i jednorazowe rękawiczki. Phuket is holding it's #phuketvegetarianfestival right now - the #nineemperorgodsfestival - and an entire street is lined with hundreds of food vendors selling "Jai" (vegan) food. For the most part, it is a lot of fried stuff, with some fruit shakes mixed in. But it sure is tasty!

I am no longer fruitarian bc I felt like eating rice . Really though recently I’ve been following my intuition and it led me to this. I highly suggest fruitarianism to help heal things from physical diseases like high blood pressure to mental things like depression/anxiety. I felt like it was just time to eat other things. I feel a little more grounded eating cooked food. I eat simple and clean still.
