Den första tapeten (första bilden) tryckte vi efter en förlaga funnen i ett rum kallat ”Lilla salongen” i en rödfärgad annexbyggnad uppförd 1901. Den andra tapeten (andra bilden) är också ett mönster från ca 1900 funnen i ett torp som kallades Svedjan. Randiga valstryckta tapeter med mönster inspirerade av vävda och/eller broderade textilier som dessa och gärna i nationalromantiskt röda och gröna kulörer är typiska för tiden. Med dessa önskar vi dig en trevlig helg! Lilla salongen (first picture) we printed after a original wallpaper found in a building from 1901. The wallpaper at second picture is also a pattern from about 1900 found in a small woodenhouse called Svedjan. Striped surface printed wallpaper with patterns inspired by woven and / or embroidered fabrics like these and preferably in national romantic red and green colors are typical of the time in Sweden. Clearing out bits of the studio has found so many little pieces of archive and project history. These swabs of paint that I’ve piled up from over the years are how I decide the palettes for my furniture, the two rows usually denote bottom colour and top colour in the drawer patterns (I only ever put two-colour prints on the Margate drawers). I have to do this by hand because I genuinely struggle to see what kind of relationship all the hues have with one another unless they are smack bang next to one another in paint. Then I can tell things like ‘does the dark jump out too much?’ Or ‘does the cream look too yellow next to the green?’. A digital version is never the same. Colours are complex and they have conversations, and so I always need to see them dry and sitting in rows like on a tiny colour schoolbus. Will these behave etc. (Fun note: I used to call pinks and greens together the ‘shrek princess’ palette,.... and I used it a lot!)
