We didn't make the @derbyonboardgames Monday night event tonight for various reasons. We did however manage to get Clank! to the table. We played using the Gold and Silk expansion for the first time. We used the 'Silk' side infiltrating the Queen Spiders lair to get her precious artifacts. Really enjoyed this expansion, it requires the use of swords to chop through the webs to get the loot and adds extra tokens that need either swords or boots to even walk past! The clank bag appeared to be very kind to us this game with neither of us nearly facing death. Both managed to escape and score the bonus 20 points. I’ve been wanting to play a lot of games lately but time has not been my friend. I also had dental surgery with a side of jaw bone removal yesterday so now I have time and a drug addled brain to contend with. One thing I am usually always up for however is a dice stacking competition! With Simons shaky hands and my limited brain functionality I’d say our handicaps make us just about even. Review - Carcassonne: South Seas Another stand alone Carcassonne. This one is a little different as there is no scoring track so a little more suspense. In this game your meeples are islanders and can be placed on bridges, islands, sea regions and markets. When you complete a bridge or an island you obtain the number of shells or bananas within the feature. The sea regions have fish and to catch the fish you need a meeple and a tile with a fishing boat. The shells, bananas and fish are then used to obtain the different ship tokens that are worth points. Where a person surrounds a market like a cloister they can take the highest value ship. Leftover shells, bananas and fish at game end also score points. Who has the most points at game end wins. This version has only 4 meeples/islanders and therefore on a turn where you don't place a meeple you can take one off the board. We liked this game in theory but it seems to fall a little short when we play it. Another day of playing boardgames for us. 5 games played and 4 wins for me. We played Agricola, Patchwork, Onitama, Barenpark and 7 Wonders Duel. I won all bar Onitama as I did not pay enough attention to the movement cards that Michael had in front of him. Its the first time I've almost filled the board in patchwork and the first time we've both managed to complete our parks in Barenpark.
